About the Role

Overview of Position: The Technical Design Detailer is a technical draftsperson responsible for supporting Design Leads,  Design Associates and interdepartmental Project Teams in creating 2D drawings from CAD models. This is an entry level position with room to grow and advance. This position reports directly to the Head of Technical Design and Vice President of Design. 


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create accurately detailed and annotated drawings in CAD paperspace that clearly communicate information required to satisfy the needs of the project on both client facing and internal operations.
  • Able to coordinate with Project Team members and Design staff to deliver a high quality and cohesive drawing package.
  • Assists with maintenance of the TD server, CAD management, and other design related software programs
  • Utilize industry internal drawing standards to efficiently communicate project specific scenic, experiential and architectural specifications and fabrication methods.
  • Ensure timely delivery of external submittal and internal fabrication deliverables
  • Coordinate with Head TD, Design Lead and project specific management to ensure the design intent of a project is being met within the constraints of schedule and budget
  • Must be proficient in AutoCAD and familiar with or willing to learn other CAD modeling and detailing workflows and software (Fusion, Rhino)
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of an internal library of industry specific CAD blocks (hardware, materials, standard rental items, truss) 
  • Follow DFW drawing standards including smooth execution of legible, well annotated client submission and fabrication drawings as well as assist in the execution and handoff of CNC files.
  • Assist Design Leads and project teams in other capacities as needed to ensure timely execution of project goals. 
  • Record and update revision documentation throughout design, review, fabrication and closeout process.
  • Some travel may be required (up to 10%)
  • While some tasks may be performed remotely, in-person engagement is essential for maintaining our quality standards. This role requires a consistent in-person presence to ensure quality, accuracy, and successful execution of work. Fast paced projects require in office communication, coordination with team members and oversee on-site installations when required. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

CAD Proficiency - Must be proficient with the tools of the trade and willing to expand knowledge of various software, techniques and industry standard technical design methodology


Knowledge & Skills:

Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent


Experience: 5+ years experience with CAD software and industry standard annotation symbols for architectural construction drawings. Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines & projects in a fast-paced environment.


Software:  The person in this position needs to be well versed in the following software:

  • Microsoft Excel
  • Google Drive
  • Slack
  • Time management software, including Google Calendar and all of its functionality.
  • CAD specific software (Autocad required. Fusion, Rhino and Sketchup a plus)
