Job Summary
Reporting to the Dean of the Library, the Library Assistant 2 is responsible for assisting patrons in a library environment as needed with basic information and services including online databases, the Library's catalog, and the internet. The Library Assistant 2 will also assist the Dean of the Library with clerical tasks and day-to-day operations such as processing travel claims, purchasing, managing requisitions, contracts, collecting statistics, and managing accessibility documentation.
Job Duties
  • Help staff a customer service desk to assist patrons in a library environment as needed with basic information and services including online databases, the Library's catalog, and the internet
  • Maintain and operate circulation services through the Library's automation system (ALMA) including checkout, renewal, and return of library materials
  • Maintain and compile selected statistics and generate specific reports utilizing the Library's automation system (ALMA), Springshare's LibInsight, and various vendor reporting tools
  • Help process books and periodicals; maintain areas of collection; support bibliographic maintenance procedures
  • Help train, schedule, and assign tasks to student workers and classified staff
  • Assist the Dean of the Library with clerical tasks and day-to-day operations such as processing travel claims, purchasing, managing requisitions, contracts, collecting statistics, and managing accessibility documentation
  • Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.

Minimum Qualifications
• Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution
• Two (2) years of office administration or secretarial experience
• Customer service experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
• One (1) year or more of library work experience
• Experience with Banner and/or Jaggaer purchasing system
• Conversational ability or fluency in a language other than English
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with students, faculty, other departments, and vendors
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Excellent customer service skills
