PURPOSE
This individual is responsible for creating designs and drawings prepared directly from information submitted on a company order form, client's customer selection sheet, repeated from previous jobs, or from information developed by a design manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Collaborate with outside sales personnel and customers to accurately complete, safe and quality structures.
  • Assures stability, deflection and load carries in a manner that will meet or surpass codes associated with each project.
  • Follow quality control procedures for completeness, accuracy, and code compliance for the implementation of design standards.
  • Confers with client, technical staff, and other Design Services personnel, and prepares design modifications as required.
  • Develop and complete design details from original concept drawings and prepare layouts.
  • Draws rough sketches or arranges for finished drawings or photographs to illustrate specified materials or assembly sequence.
  • Writes technical descriptions specifying material qualities and properties.
  • Review design(s) for most efficient and profitable use of inventory, equipment, and labor as time permits.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
COMPETENCIES
  • Preferably experience with PrimeCad, MS Word, MS Excel, and AutoCAD

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
