10 Month, Full Time
Scope of Responsibilities
Performs a variety of clerical functions in the school library, including but not limited to checking books in and out to students and staff. Works with and independently of the librarian in operating the library. Reports to the principal and coordinates with Library Services Office.
Performance Responsibilities
  1. Use the KPS library automation system to:
  2. Circulate books.
  3. Maintain student records.
  4. Generate reports.
  5. Generate and distribute overdue notices.
  6. Receive and maintain records of payments for lost books.
  7. Receives new materials and prepares the same for circulation.
  8. Shelve returned books in the order prescribed.
  9. Maintain inventory of materials.
  10. Perform simple mending and maintenance of materials.
  11. Train and oversee work of parent volunteers and/or student workers.
  12. Assist staff and students in locating materials.
  13. Assist in maintaining an attractive learning environment and a positive learning climate.
  14. Adhere to procedures outlined by the district Library Services Office
  15. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. High School Diploma or Accredited Equivalency.
  2. Evidence of keyboarding and computer proficiency through skills testing.
  3. Evidence of computer skills necessary to assist students, staff, and parents.
  4. Exhibits knowledge of the Dewey Decimal system.
  5. Ability to adapt to changing technology.
  6. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills/ability to relate with students, staff and parents.
  7. Keyboarding and computer proficiency.
  8. Ability to organize and prioritize clerical work in the library.
  9. Ability to communicate effectively.
  10. Ability to work independently in the library, following building and Library Services procedures.
  11. Evidence of a desirable work record (low absenteeism, good job performance, flexibility).
Desirable Qualifications
  1. Knowledge of overall library procedures.
  2. Knowledge of current software programs.
  3. Willingness and capable of learning and growing in the position.
  4. Ability to produce schedules, sign-ups, diagrams, etc. as necessary.
