We are currently hiring a Construction Manager in San Bernardino, CA area to support public works municipality and county project types. Anticipated projects include EV/Fleet Management, libraries, museums, and aviation sector projects. You will be teaming with project, program, and client leadership to provide premier public facilities for the local community.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Manages, oversees and coordinates all facets of the construction and close-out phase of all assigned projects.

  • Plans, organizes, and prepares reports to upper management with respect to the status and/or progress of the projects.

  • Coordinates with all pertinent public agencies during pre-construction and construction to comply with all off-site work, coordinates with city and county project staff.

  • Manages both the project budget and schedule to meet the client's qualitative standards; monitors the project budget on a monthly basis and ensures that the budget accurately reflects the project status/progress.

  • Manages daily activities of the contractor, reviews contractors' construction schedules and submittals, and coordinates responses to the contractors' inquiries thru the Requests for Clarifications (RFC) and other related documents.

  • Reviews substitution submittals from contractors to ensure specification and/or client requirements are complied with.

  • Receives, reviews, and negotiates Contractor Change Order Proposal(s) to achieve a fair & reasonable price in accordance with the General Conditions; reviews and addresses any and all Schedule impacts in accordance with the project specifications in a timely manner.

  • Reviews the process and monitors payments for the contractor, architects, engineers and any other pertinent parties.

  • Administers provisions of Professional Service Agreements between Architects and the public works client.

  • Monitors and manages project close-out with respect to project certification and project financial close out.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge & Skills Required:

  • Knowledge and experience planning, managing & coordinating all aspects of project, scope and cost for multiple projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to monitor and re-evaluate scope throughout the project and recommend adjustments when necessary.

  • Experience collaborating with cost management group to provide accurate and timely cost estimates, cost studies, actual job cost reviews, and budget reconciliation.

  • Experience with Value Engineering

  • Ability to exercise creativity and resourcefulness in managing the project effectively in a compressed timeframe.

  • Utilize effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to understand how your role contributes to the organization's goals.

  • Deliver quality work product by role modeling organizational core values.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience in project management, engineering, or construction management of commercial and/or public works facility construction with full responsibility for coordinating complex projects.

  • Prior experience on public sector projects and familiarity with public contracting code.

  • Preferred prior project based experience with EV infrastructure, libraries, museums, or other municipal projects.

  • Preferred Certification: CCM, PMP, PE, AIA, LEED

The salary range for this full-time role is $120,200.00-$160,266.69 per year. This range reflects base salary only, and not the total compensation package. Cumming Group reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on a candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications, including client requirements.
