A PART-TIME TEMPORARY - Library Assistant II is an essential member of our team, we invite you to apply and help contribute to CNLV'S growing success! Please thoroughly review the information and selection process outlined below this announcement.
ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

  • Part-Time/Temporary Position - This position is a part time/temporary position and DOES NOT include health or medical benefits. Hours for this position will not exceed 938 per calendar year.
  • Pay Considerations - The starting hourly pay for this position is $23.00.
  • Work Schedule - This position is scheduled to work 3 days per week, 6 hours per day. Thursday 3pm-9pm, Friday and Saturday 12pm - 6pm at ourAliante Library location.

THE ROLE
Under general supervision, performs entry-level library support duties in the areas of library reference and reader services, public services and circulation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in library science, education, English, business administration or related field. Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Two (2) years of library experience. Depending upon area assigned, experience required in adult or children's services.
  • Equivalency: Four (4) years of library experience in either of the above areas may be substituted for the bachelor's degree and the experience listed above.
  • Fluent English/Spanish language skills are desired.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Must possess a Nevada valid state driver's license or have the ability to obtain, and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record.

SELECTION PROCESS
  1. Complete online application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City's application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
  2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.
  3. Oral Board Interview - (Weighted 100%, Passing Score 70%).
  4. Pre-Employment Screening - Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; drug screening; and a Child Abuse & Neglect Registry clearance for applicants 18 years of age or above. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.

The selection process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
