Job description

Job Overview

The Director of Philanthropy is a frontline fundraising professional responsible for managing a mid-size portfolio of prospects comprised of alumni, parents, and friends associated with the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts with the capacity and inclination to make major gifts to Florida Tech. The role includes prospect discovery and qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors, with a strong focus on long‑term relationships for transformative gifts. The Director also secures sponsorships, ticket sales, and gifts‑in‑kind for the Annual Evening of Hope Gala for the Scott Center of Autism and collaborates with University Events & Protocol, The Scott Center, the Foundations Grant Writer, and a volunteer committee to meet revenue and attendance goals.

Responsibilities
  • In conjunction with the Vice President of Philanthropy, establish prospect management goals for visits, solicitations, and the Evening of Hope gala.
  • Manage a portfolio of 75 major gift prospects for the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts, focusing on cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of long‑term relationships.
  • Solicit and steward gala sponsors, donors, and attendees; recruit and prepare the volunteer committee for recurring meetings; collaborate with UEP and gift officers to reach annual goals.
  • Develop and maintain contact reports, opportunities, and solicitation efforts; ensure accurate and timely entry of all information into Blackbaud RENXT & FPM databases.
  • Lead monthly meetings with the College of Psychology and Liberal Arts Dean & secure prospective donor meetings for university leadership to deepen relationships.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent through education, training, and experience).
  • 5-8 years of experience in nonprofits and/or front‑line major gift or planned gift fundraising ($25k+).
  • Preference for higher education experience and event management skills.
