Job description

Where You Will Work 

Our Henderson mine and mill are an hour drive apart - separated by the Continental Divide and a 15-mile conveyor system (10 miles underground). The Henderson mine is an underground molybdenum mining operation located approximately 42 miles west of Denver and 10 miles west of Empire. It has been in operation since 1976 and today consists of a large block-cave, underground mining complex feeding a concentrator with a current capacity of approximately 32,000 metric tons per day. It can produce approximately 15 million pounds of molybdenum per year. The Henderson mill is located 15 miles west of the mine, between Dillon and Kremmling.

What You Will Do
  • Operate Load-Haul-Dump (LHD) unit in a production setting. Move broken rock from draw point to ore pass, maintain roadways, and properly place oversized boulders.
  • Assemble, transport, and place explosives for the purpose of cave development or secondary oversize blasting.
  • Operate concrete batching equipment, transport concrete to destination, or place concrete using diesel equipment (pumps, sprayers) and manual tools (shovels, screed boards)
  • Operate hydraulic drills (diesel or electric power) to drill blast holes and/or install ground support.
  • Manage distribution of explosives from magazine. Perform inventories, verify requisition paperwork, and issue/receive explosives.
  • Using a mobile lift truck, install and/or repair steel piping and rubber hose to ensure properly functioning water spray in draw points.
  • Operate various equipment to perform special projects and/or housekeeping work.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
What You Bring To Freeport
  • Minimum 6 months experience in related heavy industry (oil/gas, civil construction, mining) with experience operating heavy equipment such as front-end loaders or excavators.
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required aptitude. The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills while also passing a written assessment where required. This exam is based on skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge, as well as safety.
  • Candidates must meet requirements of US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (BATF) regulations:
    • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National
    • Must qualify to hold an employee possessor clearance for handling explosives from the BATF by passing a BATF clearance screen post hire. Further details can be found at (eCFR :: 27 CFR 555.26 -- Prohibited shipment, transportation, receipt, possession, or distribution of explosive materials.)
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures in English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in heavy industry (oil/gas, civil construction, mining) or operating heavy diesel equipment (front-end loaders, excavators, skid steers, off-highway haul trucks)

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$24.00-32.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
