Strong empathy, open-mindedness, and effective communication are soft skills that help build trust and safe environments. When applying for jobs, look for visible signs of a company's commitment to LGBTQ inclusion, such as non-discrimination policies that explicitly mention sexual orientation and gender identity, employee resource groups, and public support for LGBTQ causes. During interviews, observe how diversity and inclusion are discussed and don't hesitate to ask about the company's culture and support systems. Researching employee reviews and checking if the company participates in programs like the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index can also provide valuable insights.

What does it mean for a workplace to be LGBTQ friendly?
