Summary:
The Head of Leveraged Finance - Execution ("LFE") is responsible for leading the overall strategy, deal execution & underwriting, risk management & reporting, and team management of Huntington's LFE group. This team is primarily responsible for the structuring, underwriting, and credit approval execution of debt financings for Huntington's financial sponsor-backed and corporate clients across the Commercial Bank, including multiple specialty industry verticals within the Corporate, Specialty & Government ("CSG") group and Middle Market Banking. This team serves in a "First Line" role, partnering closely with Syndicated & Leveraged Finance, CSG Industry & Middle Market bankers, the Financial Sponsors Coverage team, and Credit to deliver comprehensive financing solutions and drive fee growth.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Leveraged Finance - Execution platform, assist in setting policy and strategy, oversee workflow and develop/mentor team members.
  • Oversee the team's execution of financial sponsor and leveraged financing transactions, including managing time critical due diligence and underwriting activities for our largest and most sophisticated clients.
  • Serve as senior escalation point and player/coach on complex or high-profile transactions, appropriately balancing risk & return to achieve enhanced economics.
  • Oversee, manage, maintain an active role in deal screening, credit approvals, client onboarding, negotiating credit agreements and other legal documentation, and assisting as needed for loan syndication and distribution.
  • Partner with Syndicated & Leveraged Finance, Financial Sponsor Coverage, CSG Banking, Middle Market Banking, Credit, and product groups to deliver competitive financing solutions as well as assist in idea generation and other value-added services to our clients and private equity relationships.
  • Work closely with Credit to ensure proper identification and mitigation of market and credit risk for those transactions, protecting the Bank from loss.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with the bankers, credit team, internal credit review, and external regulatory bodies to appropriately manage portfolio credit risk, including internal and external reporting requirements for financial sponsors and leveraged lending.
  • Stay current on market developments and trends in sponsor financing structures and terms to ensure competitive positioning of Huntington in the market.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Leveraged Finance, including a comprehensive understanding of leveraged finance markets and trends, deal execution in time-sensitive situations, historical & projected financial analysis, risk identification & mitigation, and the legal and regulatory landscape for leveraged and sponsor lending.
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience, including a proven track record of managing high performing teams. Employs a highly collaborative one-team approach, with proven ability to work across lines of business and product groups to deliver competitive solutions.
  • Bachelor's Degree; MBA or CFA preferred.
  • Registered Series 7, 63 and/or 79.

Compensation Range:
$225,000 - $300,000 Annually
The compensation range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base compensation range for this position. Actual compensation will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and education. Colleagues in this position are also eligible to participate in an applicable incentive compensation plan. In addition, Huntington provides a variety of benefits to colleagues, including health insurance coverage, wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid leave programs, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
