We are seeking an experienced and passionate FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Head Coach to lead and develop elite student robotics teams for regional, national, and international competitions.



Role Overview

The FLL Head Coach will lead student robotics teams through all aspects of the FIRST LEGO League competition process, including:

  • robot design
  • programming
  • project development
  • strategy
  • team management
  • presentation coaching

The ideal candidate has prior FLL experience as a coach, mentor, competitor, judge, referee, or program leader, and is passionate about inspiring the next generation of STEM students.



Responsibilities

  • Lead and coach FLL teams through the full competition season
  • Teach robotics engineering, LEGO robotics, programming, and competition strategy
  • Guide students in robot design, mission strategy, testing, and iteration
  • Support Innovation Project development and presentation preparation
  • Prepare teams for judging sessions, teamwork evaluations, and live competitions
  • Develop structured training plans and practice schedules
  • Track student progress and provide individualized mentorship
  • Coordinate with parents, staff, and operations teams
  • Help build a strong competitive robotics culture within the organization
  • Assist with recruitment and evaluation of competitive students



Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with FIRST LEGO League (FLL)
  • Experience coaching or mentoring competitive robotics teams
  • Familiarity with LEGO SPIKE Prime, EV3, or similar robotics systems
  • Basic understanding of robotics programming and engineering concepts
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Passion for STEM education and student development
  • Experience working with elementary or middle school students preferred



Nice to Have

  • Experience with FTC, FRC, VEX, or other robotics competitions
  • Prior competition awards or championship-level experience
  • Curriculum development or STEM teaching experience
  • Experience with Python, Scratch, block coding, or robotics software
