Job description

The TRC Department of Transportation (DOT) team is seeking a high performing Risk Manager to support Amazon regulated transportation programs in a rapidly growing and complex global environment. The Risk Manager will work closely with compliance leads and business partners to develop mechanisms and program controls to meet regulatory requirements and reduce risk for Amazon's over the road operations worldwide.
The ideal candidate will be an analytical leader who demonstrates high judgment and experience with complex regulatory frameworks and enforcement programs. The individual will have strong communication skills and ability to support cross-functional stakeholder groups across all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate takes initiative and drives efficiencies across their portfolio, demonstrates ownership and independence in developing and delivering goals, and remains agile in managing change.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and maintain mechanisms that support Amazon's motor carrier operating authorities.
- Build relationships with internal TRC and transportation business teams and support cross-functional mechanisms that support timely regulatory filings and reports.
- Deliver regulatory guidance to Amazon transportation businesses and internal stakeholders to support compliance with DOT regulations and policies.
- Succinctly convey complex problems in easy to digest terms for all stakeholders, using data to support your analysis and conclusions.
- Deliver strategies to improve our compliance programs that consider and balance stakeholder deliverables and critical path items.
- Communicate clearly and succinctly (writing and verbal) to a wide variety of audiences and business leadership.
- Demonstrable excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
A day in the life
- Apply DOT knowledge to business planning, escalations, external and internal audits and monitoring, risk assessments, roadside inspections, and associated compliance initiatives.
- Research relevant government legislation, regulations, and guidance (e.g. FMCSA, FAA, etc.) to build subject matter expertise and improve program policies.
- Support legal, regulatory, and law enforcement inquiries relating to our transportation programs.
- Develop standard operating procedures to support growth of our compliance program and regulated businesses.
- Build and maintain program performance and compliance metrics and provide written compliance narratives for compliance and business leaders to support continuous improvement and planning.
- Scale transportation knowledge, mechanisms, and learnings cross-functionally through training and development of new or improved compliance resources.
About the team
Transportation Risk Compliance (TRC) protects all of Amazon's transportation businesses, implementing scalable risk management solutions to enable business growth. The DOT Program team supports Amazon regulated transportation businesses in managing our motor carrier authority, understanding and evaluating risk, and enhancing our regulatory compliance programs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 3+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience
- Experience handling confidential information
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience
- Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials
- Experience with SQL and Excel

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
