Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Insurance Casualty Risk Manager to lead and enhance commercial insurance and casualty risk programs within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing complex general liability exposures, overseeing casualty claims, coordinating insurance renewals, and partnering with cross-functional teams to reduce operational risk and protect company assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial insurance, liability claims management, and risk mitigation within manufacturing or industrial operations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage commercial insurance programs including General Liability, Product Liability, Umbrella/Excess Liability, Environmental Liability, and D&O coverage.
  • Lead insurance renewals, underwriting submissions, policy evaluations, and broker/carrier negotiations.
  • Oversee casualty claims management, including general liability and product liability claims, reserve reviews, settlement strategies, and litigation exposure.
  • Analyze insurance coverage, identify coverage gaps, and develop strategies to optimize risk transfer and cost containment.
  • Conduct risk assessments across manufacturing plants, warehouses, and distribution facilities.
  • Collaborate with EHS, Operations, Legal, HR, and Finance teams to implement loss prevention and risk reduction initiatives.
  • Monitor claim trends, loss data, and Total Cost of Risk (TCOR) metrics to drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with brokers, carriers, TPAs, legal counsel, and other external service providers.
  • Ensure compliance with insurance regulations, contractual obligations, and internal risk management policies.
  • Prepare executive-level reports on risk exposures, claims activity, insurance performance, and emerging risks.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of risk management, commercial insurance, casualty claims, or insurance program management experience.
  • 3+ years supporting manufacturing, industrial, distribution, or supply chain operations.
  • Strong experience with Complex General Liability programs and claims management.
  • Experience managing large deductible, self-insured, or captive insurance programs.
  • Proven success working directly with insurance brokers, carriers, TPAs, and legal counsel.
  • Knowledge of insurance policy interpretation, risk transfer, liability claims, and OSHA-related risk controls.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ARM, CRM, CPCU, AIC, or RIMS-CRMP certification.
  • Experience analyzing TCOR metrics, insurance budgets, reserve evaluations, and loss trends.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, workplace safety practices, and enterprise risk management.
