Job Description:
Manage legal risks, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and protect the company's interests in a highly regulated and complex industry. Provides support and advice to the business's commercial teams and all the central support functions.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare contract assessments, redlines, recommendations and summary
  • Assist with review, draft, and negotiation of confidentiality agreements, vendor and consulting agreements, assignments and amendments, guaranties, and other similar agreements
  • Review master trading agreements of every sort in accordance with department guidelines and subject to senior lawyer oversight where required.
  • Provide timely, technically accurate and commercially aware legal advice to the company's trading and origination teams
  • Ensure that all legal risks are outlined for the business and advise on the legal process as required, including how best to mitigate such risks.
  • Support Compliance and Regulatory affairs as required

Requirements & Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1year post qualified experience
  • Licensed to practice law in relevant jurisdiction - Texas and New York
  • Previous transactional law experience required
  • Experience with wholesale power and gas contracts (NAESB, EEI, and ISDA) and structured energy transactions, highly preferred
  • Advanced MS Office Suite, specifically Excel
