Job description

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Personal Injury Paralegal with 3+ years of experience to join our Connecticut legal team. In this role, you will act as the backbone of our case management process, taking full ownership of the medical records lifecycle—from initial request through payment and organization—while independently drafting and reviewing essential legal documents to support our attorneys from intake through settlement or trial.

Case Support & Communication

  • Client & Provider Liaison: Serve as a primary, empathetic point of contact for clients, medical offices, and insurance adjusters regarding record status and case updates.
  • Deadline Tracking: Maintain the firm's calendar to ensure all Connecticut statutory deadlines, court dates, and discovery timelines are strictly met.

Medical Records & Billing Management

  • Retrieval & Tracking: Efficiently request, follow up on, and retrieve comprehensive medical records, billing statements, and insurance liens from healthcare providers.
  • Payment Processing: Manage the payment of provider fees for records, track invoices, and reconcile balances for final case accounting and settlement distributions.
  • Organization & Indexing: Categorize, chronologically order, and digitally organize high volumes of medical records to ensure files are streamlined and ready for attorney review.

Legal Document Drafting & Review

  • Drafting: Independently prepare high-quality initial drafts of legal documents, potentially including pleadings, motions, and discovery requests/responses.
  • Reviewing: Thoroughly scrutinize incoming medical records, insurance policies, and legal correspondence to extract key facts and summarize critical data for case strategies.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 3+ years of dedicated experience as a personal injury paralegal, with a proven track record.
  • Legal Knowledge: Solid understanding of Connecticut personal injury laws, local court procedures, and HIPAA compliance regulations.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with legal case management software and digital file organization tools.
  • Skills: Exceptional organizational habits, strong written communication, and the ability to manage a heavy caseload under multiple attorneys.
