The Opportunity
AgeCare is seeking an experienced and strategic legal executive to serve as General Counsel and Vice President, Legal & Corporate Services. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, this role provides enterprise legal leadership across the organization and acts as the primary legal advisor to the CEO, senior leadership, and shareholders.
As the organizationโ€™s senior legal authority, the General Counsel & VP plays a critical role in safeguarding AgeCareโ€™s legal and corporate integrity while supporting strategic growth and operational excellence. This position provides leadership across corporate governance, regulatory compliance, procurement and contract management, corporate transactions, and enterprise risk.
The successful candidate will combine deep legal expertise with strong business judgment and executive leadership to guide complex initiatives, mitigate organizational risk, and strengthen governance across a growing seniors care organization.

What You Will Do
  • Strategic Legal Leadership โ€“ Serve as the organizationโ€™s chief legal advisor, providing strategic counsel to the CEO, Executive Leadership Team, and shareholders on legal, governance, regulatory, and risk management matters.
  • Corporate Governance โ€“ Provide leadership and oversight for corporate governance processes, including board and shareholder relations, corporate records management, and regulatory filings.
  • Procurement & Contract Governance โ€“ Oversee enterprise procurement and contract management frameworks, including the development, review, negotiation, and administration of contracts related to operations, services, leases, and partnerships.
  • Policy & Regulatory Compliance โ€“ Lead the development and oversight of organizational policies and procedures to ensure alignment with legislative, regulatory, and accreditation requirements across jurisdictions.
  • Corporate Transactions & Strategic Initiatives โ€“ Provide legal leadership for corporate transactions, including real estate matters, financing arrangements, and development initiatives, and support responses to RFPs and evaluation of strategic growth opportunities.
  • Privacy & Information Governance โ€“ Serve as Privacy Officer and Chair of the Information Management Committee, ensuring strong governance practices related to information management, privacy, and data protection.
  • Organizational Leadership โ€“ Support and mentor staff within corporate services functions while fostering a collaborative culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • External Representation โ€“ Represent AgeCare in legal, regulatory, and industry engagements while maintaining strong relationships with external counsel, advisors, and stakeholders.
What You Bring
  • Masterโ€™s degree in Business Administration, Law, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Member in good standing with a Canadian provincial law society (or eligible for admission).
  • 10+ years of progressive legal experience, preferably in corporate, commercial, or healthcare-related law.
  • Senior leadership or executive-level experience advising organizational leadership.
  • Experience supporting corporate governance and complex organizational structures.
  • Experience with contracts, procurement, regulatory compliance, and corporate transactions.
  • Exceptional legal and business judgment.
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business guidance.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence across large organizations.
  • High degree of integrity, professionalism, and ethical leadership.
