Job description

Legal Operations Manager - Shelton, CT (Hybrid)

We are seeking an experienced Legal Operations Manager who will leverage their subject matter expertise and knowledge of industry best practices to implement practical solutions that drive operational efficiencies. The position will be responsible for all aspects of legal operations, including process improvement, optimizing technology solutions, project management, data analytics and knowledge management. The role will report to a senior member of the Legal team.

  • Develop, implement and maintain operational methodologies, workflows, practice aids, project plans and other tools to support legal operations initiatives
  • Assess existing workflows, processes, software and tools to identify opportunities to optimize utilization and performance
  • Identify, evaluate, implement and deploy new processes and technologies to improve operations and efficiency, including AI technologies
  • Identify opportunities to automate legal workflows using AI
  • Partner with key stakeholders to develop a technology roadmap and lead system selection, testing, training and change management activities
  • Align Legal Ops strategy with broader digital transformation initiatives
  • Develop and present business cases, ROI models and adoption strategies for investment in new tools and AI‑enabled technologies
  • Lead the initiation, execution and delivery of legal projects with clear plans that define roles, responsibilities and timelines for project tasks
  • Oversee the integration of AI with existing legal technology stack (CLM, billing systems)
  • Assist with the continued development of Hubbell’s contract management system, including template creation, request management and database administration
  • Develop and manage department dashboards and metrics, including KPIs on performance, workload, workflows, cost reduction and time savings
  • Track AI performance metrics, including: 1) time savings; 2) cost reduction; and, 3) accuracy improvements
  • Organize and manage department knowledge, forms and other shared resources using SharePoint and similar technologies
  • Develop and deliver training sessions, FAQs and other materials to implement change management and enhance adoption and use of new technologies and processes
  • Develop and deliver AI training programs for legal and business teams
  • Leverage expertise in software and systems (such as e‑billing, third party board portal systems, subsidiary management, e‑signature, contract management, matter management, IP and litigation docketing, Power BI and SharePoint) to optimize functionality and assist in training on same
  • Assist with management of external vendors, including subscription and license renewals and compliance with company policies and billing rules
  • Assist with the management, tracking and optimization of legal spend, budgeting and accruals
  • Perform other special assignments, strategic projects or duties, as needed
What will help you thrive in this role?
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience leading legal operations and project management, preferably for a legal department within a public company
  • Demonstrated experience of improving or automating legal processes and workflows
  • Demonstrated experience in requirements gathering, system design and implementation of technology solutions
  • Strong experience in developing, implementing, using and providing training on legal department technology solutions (such as e‑billing, third party board portal system, subsidiary management, e‑signature, contract management, matter management, IP and litigation docketing, Power BI and SharePoint)
  • Proficient in data analysis and Excel modeling
  • Expert in using PowerPoint to prepare concise and well‑organized slides
  • Able to create reporting processes and leverage systems and cross‑functional teams to expedite processes
  • Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized with a proven ability to contribute in a fast‑paced, changing work environment
  • Strong work ethic and sense of professionalism and discretion, demonstrating accountability, integrity, good judgment and respect for confidentiality
  • Able to operate autonomously while being a team player who brings a positive, "can do" attitude to the workplace and works collaboratively with other members of the legal team and with internal business partners
  • Excellent verbal, written, analytical and presentation skills required
  • Experience working with and managing legal vendors, including outside counsel
Education

Bachelor’s Degree or project management certificate preferred
