Job description

Facility:Dayton Children's - South CampusDepartment:Sports Medicine PM & RSchedule:Full timeHours:40Job Details:The Athletic Trainer is a certified, licensed professional who practices in the clinical setting as the liaison between the patient, the medical doctors and/or Sports Medicine team members involved in the assessment and care of acute or chronic youth athletic injuries and conditions. This includes following the patient care from the time of arrival to their time of departure and making sure all the patients and doctors needs are met to provide the best physician/patient experience as possible. Perform additional allied duties and provide patient care activities as needed in accordance with the licensure, scope of practice, standards and functions of his/her individual professional licensure. Included in the standards for appropriate clinical competency and documentation. Perform as a medical team member and participate in the functions and activities essential to operations. Be in compliance with medical/legal requirements for the sporting events or activities. Maintain knowledge of up-to-date techniques in the enhancement, prevention, and care of athletic injuries.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training
Experience
2 yrs clinical or traditional experience
License or Certifications
Licensure by the Ohio OTPTAT Board
NATA BOC certified
Skills and Competencies
CPR/AED
Epic or similar online injury documentation system

Master's Degree in Athletic Training
The Athletic Trainer for the Center of the Female Athlete in the department of Sports Medicine works collaboratively with medical, nutritional, and psychology staff to ensure the plan of care is implemented for all pediatric patients. The role will provide value to the practice through expert skills in triage, performing evaluations of the female athlete, and patient education on health, wellness, and performance.

Department Specific Job Details:

The Athletic Trainer for the Center of the Female Athlete

must be able to coordinate the organizational, physical, and overall plan of care for the departments involved in the Center.Overall supports the mission of the hospital and works collaboratively as a team player with others in the hospital and community involving the Female Athlete.

This includes providing education to the patient and the parents in each setting with collaboration of other departments while serving as the liaison between the medical doctors and/or the medical/administrative support staffs ensuring the patient is provided the best physician/patient experience as possible. The Athletic Trainer demonstrates basic knowledge of pediatric growth and development and is able to recognize deviations from the norm. The Athletic Trainer works side-by-side with the physicians and evaluates the outcomes and revises the plan of care focusing on the athlete-centered care model.This position could utilize someone with exceptional writing skills that can write blog stories and messages, as well as brief succinct messages. This position includes medical coverage for athletic events and teaching opportunities in the community for the female athlete.
