Billing Specialist โ€“ Law Firm We are seeking an experienced Billing Specialist to join our accounting team at a growing law firm. The ideal candidate will have prior law firm billing experience and be proficient in either Aderant or LMS (Legal Management System). This individual will work closely with attorneys, legal assistants, and clients to ensure accurate and timely preparation, review, and processing of legal invoices while maintaining compliance with client billing guidelines. Key Responsibilities Prepare, review, edit, and process monthly attorney billing in accordance with client requirements and firm policies. Utilize Aderant or LMS to generate prebills, finalize invoices, and process billing adjustments. Work directly with attorneys to review prebills, resolve billing inquiries, and implement requested revisions. Ensure compliance with client-specific billing guidelines, including electronic billing (eBilling) requirements when applicable. Process write-offs, write-downs, transfers, and billing corrections. Monitor accounts for billing accuracy and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Coordinate with Accounts Receivable regarding payment issues and outstanding invoices. Generate billing reports and respond to attorney and management requests. Maintain accurate billing records and ensure confidentiality of client financial information. Assist with month-end closing activities related to billing. Qualifications 3+ years of legal billing experience within a law firm (required). Hands-on experience with Aderant or LMS (Legal Management System) is required. Strong understanding of legal billing practices, trust accounting concepts, and client billing guidelines. Experience with electronic billing platforms is a plus. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict billing deadlines. Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, clients, and accounting staff. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting multiple attorneys or practice groups. Knowledge of Elite, BillBlast, CounselLink, Legal Tracker, or other eBilling platforms are a plus. Experience in a fast-paced mid-sized or large law firm environment.
