Job description

A respected CBD civil defense law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal / Legal Assistant to support a fast-paced practice. This role is ideal for a paralegal who no longer wishes to have a billable requirement or a legal assistant that is ready to trade up with strong civil litigation experience and mad technical skills.


Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, edit, and file pleadings, discovery responses, subpoenas, and motions
  • Manage Louisiana state and federal e-filing (Odyssey, PACER)
  • Maintain litigation calendars and track court deadlines
  • Organize case files, trial binders, and exhibits
  • Assist attorneys with trial preparation, hearings, and depositions
  • Coordinate scheduling and witness preparation

Required Experience & Skills

  • 3+ years of litigation paralegal or legal assistant experience
  • Civil litigation or civil defense background strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of Louisiana Civil procedure and local court rules
  • Strong proofreading, legal formatting, and document management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases in a high-volume litigation setting
  • Experience with admiralty / maritime is a plus
