FOIA Analysts
Location: There are 3 positions available in the National Capital Region (NCR), one in Reston, VA; one in Herndon, VA; and one in Washington, DC.
Description: CORTEK, Inc. is seeking an experienced Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Analyst to support the National Park Service (NPS) in processing and responding to FOIA requests. In this role, you will work with FOIA Officers, custodians, and attorneys to ensure records are properly identified, reviewed, redacted, and released in compliance with federal law. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to government transparency and support the protection of America's parks and cultural resources.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Case Intake & Tracking
  • Monitor FOIAXpress, email, and mail for new requests; log and track cases.
  • Draft acknowledgment letters and assign cases to appropriate components.

Records Search & Collection
  • Coordinate with custodians and park units to identify responsive records.
  • Provide guidance and training to custodians on search procedures.

Review & Redaction
  • Analyze records for responsiveness and applicable FOIA/Privacy Act exemptions.
  • Redact sensitive information electronically and document exemption justifications.
  • Flag potential legal, deliberative, or White House equities for review.

Response Preparation & Coordination
  • Draft response letters and prepare final response packages for approval.
  • Coordinate with the Office of the Solicitor and NPS FOIA Officers on complex cases.
  • Maintain case files and ensure all actions are fully documented.

Job Requirements and Experience
  • Experience: 3+ years of FOIA processing experience, including reviewing and redacting records.
  • Tools: Proficiency with FOIAXpress, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and eDiscovery tools.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of FOIA exemptions (especially b(4), b(5), b(6)), Privacy Act, and Section 508 accessibility requirements.
  • Skills: Excellent writing and communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple requests under tight deadlines.

Clearance:
Ability to obtain a National Agency Check (NAC/NACI).
