About This Position:
As the original cornerstone of Lee Health, Lee Memorial Hospital is a nationally recognized, non-profit acute care facility offering advanced services including a Primary Stroke Center designation and a DNV accredited Orthopedic Center of Excellence, with a proud history of delivering award-winning, patient-centered care to the Fort Myers community for over a century.
A Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at Lee Health provides occupational therapy services under the direction and supervision of the occupational therapist. The COTA implements selected components of patient/client interventions and obtain data related to that intervention; make modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient/client as directed by the Occupational Therapist or to ensure patient/client safety and comfort; educate and interact Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistant students, technicians, volunteers, patients/clients families, caregivers; and respond to patient/client and environmental emergency situations. The COTA will be expected to conduct themselves in an effective professional behavior manner. The attributes, characteristics or behaviors required for success in this job include: critical thinking, communication, problem solving, interpersonal skills, responsibility, professionalism, use of constructive feedback, effective use of time and resources, stress management, and commitment to learning.
About our Rehabilitation Team:
Our Rehabilitation Services team is one of the largest and most dynamic in the region. With over 700 skilled professionals dedicated to helping patients regain strength, mobility, and independence through comprehensive, compassionate care. Our licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists work closely with medical teams to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's unique needs. Beyond core therapy services, we offer a variety of specialty programs including neurological rehabilitation, vestibular and balance therapy, lymphedema management, pelvic health therapy, and oncology rehabilitation. With services spanning acute care, skilled nursing, home health, and outpatient settings, our team delivers exceptional, evidence-based care that restores function and enhances quality of life.
What This Position Requires:
Educational Requirements Required: Associate's in accredited COTA program ;Eligible Lee Health Candidates are required to graduate from an accredited program. The accepted accrediting body required for Lee Health's Rehabilitation Professionals is the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)
Experience Required: No Experience Required
State of Florida Licensure Requirements Required: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant License
Certifications/Registration Requirements Required: BLS (American Heart Association / Basic Life Support)
