The Environmental Studies Graduate Program at CSUF invites part‑time faculty to join its ongoing pool. The master’s program is interdisciplinary, focusing on human interaction with the environment and preparing students for careers in environmental science, planning, regulation, and education.

Required Qualifications
  • PhD or master’s degree with substantial professional experience; disciplinary background and expertise must align with course content.
  • Teaching experience that applies environmental expertise to Southern California contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse student population, including first‑generation college students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior college or university teaching experience with evidence of strong teaching performance.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive environment.
  • Relevant professional experience that adds to instructional delivery.

Appointment and Salary

All appointments are made as Lecturers under the CSU system Collective Bargaining Agreement. Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification range: $5,507 – $6,677 per month. Anticipated hiring range: up to $6,221 per month.

Compensation is prorated based on units taught and paid in six monthly installments per semester. Example for a three‑unit assignment: $6,608.40 – $7,465.20 per semester.

Performance Evaluation

Regular performance evaluations are conducted per the Collective Bargaining Agreement and University Policy Statement 210.070 to determine future teaching assignments. Syllabi and materials may be reviewed by the department personnel committee.

Other Requirements
  • Mandated reporter under California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act; compliance required per CSU Executive Order 1083.
  • Background clearance is required; the offer is contingent upon satisfactory results. Continued employment requires periodic screenings as per CSU policy.
  • Compliance with the California State University Out‑of‑State Employment Policy.
  • Disclosure of any relevant administrative or judicial decisions regarding sexual harassment within the last seven years, as required by Education Code 89521.
