Job Description:
This is a part-time position teaching laboratory sections for Chemistry for Health
Sciences during the 2026-2027 academic year at Batten University. The course
description is:
Integrated lecture and laboratory course that relates basic inorganic and organic
chemical processes to those of biochemistry. Explores the nature of atoms and
molecules in terms of simple structures and reactions, and the more complex structures
of biochemical molecules and their interactions with living systems.
The adjunct instructor will teach in-person during the day or early evening. Preference
will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. and demonstrated experience in teaching
college level chemistry, especially chemistry for health sciences (pre-nursing students),
although candidates with an M.S. or 18 graduate semester hours in Chemistry or
Biochemistry will be considered. Interested candidates should send their resume/CV to
the Department Chair, Dr. Kevin Kittredge at kkittredge@batten.edu. Review of
applications will begin immediately.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide syllabi to students on the first day of class.
* Be on time and prepared for class sessions and grade, provide feedback, and
return assignments within a reasonable time period.
* Communicate with students via office hours and email.
* Submit mid-term reports, final grades, and C- reports per guidelines provided by
the University Registrar.
* Comply with FERPA regulations.
* Coordinate with Campus support services as needed to support students.
Qualifications:
* Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry or M.S. with 18 graduate hours in either
Chemistry or Biochemistry
* Teaching experience is preferred
* Willingness to learn and use Blackboard, the University Learning Management
System.
* Strong communication skills.
