African American Studies - Part-time Lecturer Pool

Job No: 558661
Work type: Instructional Faculty - Temporary/Lecturer
Location: Fullerton

Responsibilities

Teach courses in the following subject areas:

  • African American Culture
  • African American History
  • African American Literature
  • Ethnic Studies

This is a pool of part‑time lecturers used by the department as needed. Qualified applicants will be contacted when positions are available.

Required Qualifications
  • MSc (or equivalent) in African American Studies, Ethnic Studies, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first‑generation college students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in African American Studies, Ethnic Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Relevant professional experience and innovative interdisciplinary pedagogical approaches.

Appointment and Salary

Initial appointments last one semester. Monthly base salary range: $5,507 – $6,677, prorated to units. Three‑unit assignments: $6,608.40 – $7,465.20 per semester.

Additional Requirements

Mandated reporter under CA Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act. Background check required. Position only within California.
