Job description

Job Overview

The Lead Vascular Surgeon will lead a multidisciplinary team that treats complex vascular diseases through surgical and endovascular procedures, patient consultations, and medical management. The role demands strong leadership, diagnostic, and collaborative skills. The Surgeon will work with nursing staff and physicians to provide comprehensive care at Methodist LeBonheur Hospitals, modeling behavior aligned with MLH Mission, Vision, and Values. This position is part of an organization that has served the healthโ€‘care needs of Memphis and the Midโ€‘South for over a century.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and manage direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, and assessments to diagnose and treat conditions.
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate.
  • Refer patients to specialists and coordinate care with relevant services.
  • Analyze test results and medical records to diagnose patient conditions.
  • Record and maintain accurate documentation within 3 days of visit or discharge.
  • Coordinate work with nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, psychologists, and other healthโ€‘care providers.
  • Support call coverage for the practice and hospitals.
  • Maintain productivity and focus on high patient and family satisfaction and retention.
  • Develop strong partnerships with fellow physicians and support staff.
  • Supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and students in areas of expertise.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Lead education and prevention programs as specified.
Education and Qualifications
  • MD/DO degree; medical school graduation.
  • Boardโ€‘certified or boardโ€‘eligible in Vascular Surgery.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for medical care.
  • Familiarity with accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals or students.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Medical Doctor โ€“ Arkansas, Mississippi, or Tennessee State Medical Board.
  • Osteopathic Physician โ€“ Tennessee Board of Osteopathic Examination.
  • Boardโ€‘certified Physician โ€“ American Board of Medical Specialties; National Board Certified Physician; American Osteopathic Association Board Certified DO; NBOME certification.
Physical Demands
  • Must be physically and mentally capable, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform essential functions without endangering self or others.
