Leave of Absence Coordinators often encounter challenges such as managing multiple cases simultaneously, ensuring compliance with various federal and state regulations (like FMLA and ADA), and effectively communicating with both employees and management. What is a leave of absence?

A Leave of Absence (LOA) is a period of time when an employee is away from their job but remains employed by their organization. LOAs can be taken for various reasons, including medical issues, family emergencies, personal matters, or educational pursuits. Depending on company policy and the reason for the leave, the LOA may be paid or unpaid. During this time, the employee's job is typically protected, meaning they can return to their position or a similar one once the leave ends. It's important to follow your employer's procedures and provide any required documentation to ensure your leave is properly approved and managed.
