Job Title: Boot Production Technician (Welt Stitch & Equipment Maintenance)

Job Summary:
Western Leather Goods Inc., a leader in premium handcrafted boots, is seeking a Boot Production Technician to support both welt stitching operations and equipment maintenance within our manufacturing facility. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn the craft of bootmaking while bringing a strong mechanical aptitude to help maintain, troubleshoot, and improve production equipment.

This role is critical to ensuring consistent product quality, operational efficiency, and minimal production downtime. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and willing to grow within a skilled trade environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform welt stitching processes, including preparing welt grooves, attaching welt materials, and finishing to quality standards
  • Operate, monitor, and adjust production machinery to ensure safe and efficient performance
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment
  • Assist with diagnosing mechanical issues and completing minor repairs to reduce downtime
  • Escalate complex equipment issues to maintenance leadership as needed
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and workstations in a clean and organized manner
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and production guidelines
  • Support production goals while maintaining high standards of craftsmanship and consistency

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, mechanical work, or maintenance is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn equipment operation and repair
  • Willingness to learn bootmaking techniques and develop trade skills (training provided)
  • Ability to use hand tools and work with mechanical equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and work effectively in a team environment
  • Dependable with a strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and work on feet for extended periods
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm motions
  • Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs as needed
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and production materials

Work Environment & Schedule:

  • Monday – Friday weekends as needed. 40 hours a week.
  • Shift hours may vary between 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM depending on department assignment.
  • Overtime and Saturday work required as needed based on production demands
