Job description

Welcome! We’re excited you’re considering an opportunity with us! Below, you’ll find other important information about this position. This position will partner with hospital leaders to foster employee development, expand organizational capability, and ensure that WVU Medicine employees get the learning support they need. This role will be responsible for assessing, communicating, and delivering on learning needs across the hospital, implementing organizational-wide professional development programs, and supporting local learning strategy to support the growth of a best-in-class workforce. This position will also support the growing needs of our leaders, managers, and supervisors to help further develop their leadership capabilities. This individual will work with hospital leadership across all departments to develop content and to administer, report, and facilitate training needs.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, communications, education, nursing, or related field AND two (2) years of direct experience in human resources facilitation or organizational development with specific skills in training and education.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

1. Consulting and technical coaching
  • 1.1 Builds relationships, establish credibility, and trust with manager, employees, and customers. Differentiates between training needs and other types of performance concerns.
  • 1.3 Consults with internal customers on learning management needs and structures appropriate components within the learning management system, and other interfacing systems, to meet those needs.
  • 1.4 Consults with subject matter experts on their learning objectives to effectively design/develop learning.
  • 1.4 Serves as facility LMS Administrator for all education and training materials and courses, both live and CBL based.
2. Learning and technology administration
  • 1.1 Serves as facility LMS Administrator for all education and training materials and courses, both live and CBL based.
  • 2.1 Facilitates training programs, workshops, and webinars to WVU Medicine employees.
  • 2.2 Builds and test curricula, assignment profiles and other LMS architectural components.
  • 2.3 Administers the mandatory education process, including working with subject matter experts to update content, build curricula and assign courses.
  • 2.4 Serves as facility LMS Administrator for all education and training materials and courses, both live and CBL based.
3. Program Management
  • 3.1 Facilitate training programs, workshops, and webinars to WVU Medicine employees.
  • 3.2 Manages NEO training facilitation, including facility specific course content development for assigned facilities.
  • 3.3 Ensures Joint Commission requirements associated with content and attendance for new employees are met.
  • 3.5 Manages student placements within the facilities, including the management of educational agreements with institutions.
4. Instructional Design
  • 4.1 Develops and manages a content bank of requested employee educational opportunities for assigned facilities.
  • 4.3 Designs, develops, and customizes workshops, job aids, tools, and other development resources to ensure WVU Medicine staff have the human/leadership skills to be effective in their roles.
  • 4.4 Designs and develops eLearning programs utilizing various multi-media and web authoring tools such as: Articulate 360 Suite, Adobe Captivate, and other applications.
  • 4.5 Develops instructional material, coordinates, writes and edits educational content, and incorporates current technology for educators developing specific curricula.
Physical Requirements
  • 1.Sitting and standing for long periods of time; working on a computer
  • 2. Involves regular physical effort such as lifting and transporting materials/equipment of at least 20 pounds, stooping, and pushing heavy carts.

  • 1. Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary to interact diplomatically and tactfully with diverse groups of people, including all levels of employees and leadership.
  • 2. Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders/employees across the organization in order to effectively deliver training, skills development, and leadership coaching.
  • 3. Capable of translating strategy into specific goals, action plans, and deliverables by utilizing principles, methods, and tools in the following disciplines: performance consulting, instructional design, training delivery, organizational design and effectiveness, curriculum design, and change management.
  • 4. Proficiency in MS Office, Learning Management Systems, and other educational technology applications as required. Ability to utilize search tools to find relevant information and stay up-to-date with industry advances.
  • 5. Excellent facilitation skills and ability to confidently facilitate to all levels of the organization/hospital.
  • 6. Demonstrated teamwork skills with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • 7. Demonstrated success in working on multiple projects with changing priorities while still delivering effective results.
  • 8. Momentum to flex and adapt to the changing needs.
  • 9. Able to write clear, concise, cohesive materials and communications that are branded to align with WVU Medicine
