Job description

Job Summary:

The Tax Digital Transformation & Innovation practice at BDO USA drives the success of our business through intuitive and human-first digital experiences that our employees and clients engage with. We're elevating the way tax professionals deliver services to our clients and the way we help them manage their taxes and tax strategies.


The Product Design Manager plays a key role in shaping and delivering high quality digital experiences across our tax products and platforms. This role partners closely with product and technology teams to translate defined strategies into thoughtful, usable designs for complex, data heavy tax solutions. The ideal candidate brings strong hands on design expertise, sound judgment, and a user centered mindset, with experience simplifying complex workflows into intuitive experiences.

This role focuses on design execution, collaboration, and continuous improvement, while contributing to broader design standards and practices across the Tax Digital Transformation & Innovation organization.
 

Job Duties:

    Partners closely with Product Owners, Development/Fusion and other stakeholders to translate product strategy and requirements into user centered design solutions
    Leads design workstreams for assigned products or features, supporting zero to one initiatives as well as iterative enhancements
    Designs intuitive and user-friendly interfaces and experiences for complex and technical tax products, grounded in human-centered design principles
    Creates and maintains wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, prototypes, and visual designs to clearly communicate interaction and design intent
    Conducts and supports user research and usability testing, synthesizing findings and applying insights to improve designs
    Collaborates with senior design leaders to apply and evolve design system components, guidelines, and best practices 
    Presents design concepts and recommendations to product teams and stakeholders, incorporating feedback effectively 
    Contributes to the continuous improvement of design processes, tools, and ways of working 
    Advocates for human centered design within product teams, ensuring user and client needs are represented throughout the delivery lifecycle 
    Supports Tax Digital Transformation & Innovation initiatives through strong design execution and cross team collaboration
    Other duties as required

    Acts as a career advisor and mentor as assigned 

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education:
    Bachelor's degree required; focus in Design, Human-computer Interaction, computer science, information science, graphic design, interaction design, industrial/product design preferred. OR High School Diploma and ten (10) or more years of experience in digital product UI/UX design, that included human-centered design solutions, required
    Bachelor's Degree in Design or Human-Computer Interaction, preferred

Experience:
    Eight (8) or more years of experience in product design, required
    A strong portfolio showcasing expertise in product design and simplifying the user experience for complex products, preferred
    Expertise designing data-driven interfaces, preferred
    Cross platform web and mobile application design, preferred
    Experience with user research and usability testing methods, preferred

License/Certifications: 
    Certification in UX Design or Interaction Design, preferred 
Software: 
    Expert level experience in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, and Figma), preferred
    Experience in collaborating with product management and engineering teams through Azure DevOps, preferred
    Proficient in design prototyping and storytelling, preferred 
Proficient in Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Microsoft Office 365

    Knowledge of leading practices in conducting user research and usability testing, with a data-driven approach to design
    Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across different teams and disciplines
    Excellent knowledge of leading practices in design and management of a design function
    Strong problem-solving skills 
    Ability to collaborate with other designers, developers, product managers and end-users
    Strong organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details 
    Strong knowledge of human centered design
    Excellent understanding of the full mobile and web development process, including design, development, and deployment 
    Strong knowledge of accessibility requirements for designs 
    Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously  
    Ability to effectively lead a team of product design professionals and delegate work assignments as needed 
    Ability to encourage team environment on projects and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel 
    Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels

Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

National Range: $140,000 - $210,000
Maryland Range:  $140,000 - $210,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range:  $140,000 - $210,000
