Description
General Purpose of Position
The Coordinator for Prayerground Development will work to bring to life the Love of Children priority of developing multi-size use prayerground bundles and equipping congregations to strategically implement strategies and equipment to create spaces that enhance the communal life of worship and development of the formation of children's faith. This role will carefully research existing models of ministry for inclusion of children, aged birth through twelve, in corporate worship as well best practices from additional sources that centers the wellbeing and development of children.
By the end of the grant cycle, we will have successfully created a manual for implementing prayergrounds across various size churches that carefully considers child development, the needs of neurodiverse children and the priority of creating lifelong faith filled learners in the church. In addition to the manual, bundles will be developed for purchase (through UCCR or other means) that will allow churches to find the materials that will best fit the needs of children in their midst. This is a part-time position, 15 hours/week. It is also a 16-month term position funded through December 31, 2027.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative
  • Process invoices and reimbursements
  • Track and maintain the project budget
  • Monthly meetings with Ministry Incubators to monitor project progress

Prayerground Research and Development
  • Identify and recruit research participants including children and congregations
  • Identify key areas for research and work with participants to deepen understanding
  • Identify and develop the necessary resources for widespread implementation of Praygrounds in local congregations
  • Maintain regular contact with participants for data collection
  • Create a Prayerground Starter Kit to be used by interested local congregations
  • Create a Manual on the purpose and best practices on prayergrounds that uses existing data and what will be gathered from participants
  • Offer consultation to churches, as needed, once enough research is gathered and practices put in place
  • Assist with content creation, as needed

Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position:
  • College degree or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least four years' experience with children's ministry or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient computer skills with a focus on programs and systems including Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, Canva, Zoom and Wrike
  • Ability to edit and update websites
  • Ease of learning and engaging various social media platforms
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious settings with a demonstrated commitment to pluralism in the workplace.

Location: Because this is a part-time term position, there is no requirement to relocate to Cleveland, Ohio.
