Job Summary

Counter Sales Associates play a crucial role in building, maintaining, and growing customer relationships, enhancing the customer experience, and promoting the success of the branch and company. They represent a premier HVAC and Refrigeration wholesaler and provide our clients with excellent customer service, sales, and product knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Sales & Customer Service
    • Greet and assist customers at the counter, over the phone, and online
    • Provide product recommendations based on customer needs
    • Assist Territory Managers when applicable
  • Order Entry & Customer Quotes
    • Input and verify customer orders, account details, and product information
    • Place, schedule, and ensure timely product delivery
    • Conduct payment transactions and account reconciliations for customer orders
  • Inventory & Cycle Counting
    • Maintain accurate inventory and proper bin locations on all stocked items
    • Collaborate with the Supply Chain Team to manage stock levels, non-stock inventory, and unavailable inventory.
    • Perform cycle counts and report discrepancies
  • Shipping & Receiving
    • Oversee/Conduct the shipping, receiving, and delivery of purchase orders, products, and warehouse transfers
    • Load/unload trucks and make customer deliveries when necessary
  • Branch Upkeep & Safety
    • Ensure all areas of the branch/store are kept clean, orderly, and safe
    • Keep all catalogs, books, product literature, and store displays orderly and up to date

Experience & Qualifications

  • Relevant professional or technical experience - i.e. wholesale, retail, or business-to-business customer service or sales experience, technical/HVAC knowledge
  • Experience with purchasing (POS) and/or inventory software a plus
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and conduct the various sales, customer service, order entry, inventory, delivery, and housekeeping tasks of the branch daily
  • Basic computer skills - Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Ability to listen and communicate by phone, in writing, and in person with customers in a professional manner
  • Ability to understand and calculate numbers and figures related to branch/company sales, purchase orders, inventory, etc. (i.e. revenue, profits, discounts, percentages)
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift and pass a forklift safety test
  • Desire to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required, additional certification or coursework from a college or technical school desirable
  • HVAC industry training, certification, or college coursework/degree a plus
  • Commit to continuous learning & development through several training channels

Work Schedule/Shift: Standard Hours are M-F, 7:00 am-4:30 pm. Hours are determined by the branch manager and could be between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm and, potentially, Saturday morning.

Pay Status: Non-exempt

Physical Demands

  • Work can involve lifting products weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Warehouse locations may not have central air conditioning
  • Work may involve standing and/or sitting for extended periods
