Job description

The primary purpose of this position is to supervise and facilitate the construction and installation phases of projects by directly managing sub-contractors and/or coworkers, and providing oversight and project support for production, safety, and quality. Primarily focuses on General Contracting projects and serves as the on-site project manager, schedule and sequence turf installations. Serves as regional customer service liaison; supports Sales team by attending pre-bid meetings and presentations.

FieldTurf Summer Internships are open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are pursuing degrees in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Construction Engineering Technology & Environmental. FieldTurf interns function in the roles of Field Engineers or Quality Control Engineers. In-the-field work includes, but is not limited to: daily take-offs, tracking quantities, day-to-day communication with inspectors and owners, attending construction progress meetings and project close outs, essentially overseeing the project for the Project Manager.

The Internship program has five major objectives:

(1) To create a remarkable learning and professional experience for interns so that they will think enthusiastically about construction and what they have learned about the sports venue construction industry.

(2) To ensure that interns experience the benefits of working for a world class Construction Company.

(3) To provide interns with a practical, hands-on learning experience where they will be directly involved in the work.

(4) To create a pipeline for the best of the best employees to potentially join FieldTurf upon graduation from college.

(5) To keep FieldTurf Management in touch with the new generation of technology and provide a superior group of onsite leadership.

Program Content: A 6-12 month forum, where interns can develop their work and learning experiences with onsite training to include weekly compensation and reimbursement for owned vehicle mileage. Interns will give a group presentation to a cross-section of FieldTurf Supervisors highlighting their experiences and providing feedback to further enhance the FieldTurf Internship program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Under limited supervision and much decision-making:

  • Attends pre-construction and progress meetings.
  • Verifies site conditions throughout project and documents critical site details.
  • Ensure construction execution complies with the plans and specifications.
  • Ensure that all needed materials and equipment for the project are delivered on time.
  • Ensure proper staging area for equipment and materials.
  • Verifies that necessary critical documents, local rules, and permits are complete, delivered and/or posted.
  • Communicates work schedule to Project Team
  • Regularly updates Project Management Software - uploads daily reports and site photos
  • Enforces company safety regulations, standard operating procedures, and quality standards.
  • Perform onsite base inspections, coordinate material deliveries with installation sub-contractors
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
  • Assist in the accomplishment of Company goals.
  • Helps other employee to accomplish Company goals.
  • Performs other duties as may be assigned by department supervisor.
  • Participates in the Disaster Recovery plan as required
