Job description

The Manager, Program Learning Governance supports the execution and continuous improvement of governance and operational oversight for enterprise required learning programs across American Express. This role partners closely with stakeholders across Risk, Compliance, Legal, Control Management, and Learning teams to help ensure learning programs are compliant, well-governed, operationally effective, and aligned to enterprise standards.
The Manager will contribute to governance processes, reporting, audit readiness activities, and program oversight while helping drive consistency, transparency, and process excellence across required learning initiatives globally.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
  • Support governance and project management activities for Global Required Learning programs to help ensure alignment with enterprise standards, timelines, and compliance expectations.
  • Lead consultation intake sessions with enterprise partners to understand governance requirements for specific required learning programs.
  • Assist in maintaining governance processes, documentation, controls, and operational procedures across required learning programs.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Control Management stakeholders to support program compliance and audit readiness activities.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of governance reporting, dashboards, metrics, and analytics to monitor learning compliance and program effectiveness.
  • Support ongoing risk assessment and due diligence activities, including participation in Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) processes.
  • Assist with audit and exam support activities, including documentation gathering, issue tracking, and remediation coordination.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies to enhance program oversight and reporting accuracy.
  • Translate data and insights into clear and actionable updates for stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Foster collaboration across learning and enterprise teams to support a culture of accountability, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of experience in program governance, reporting, analytics, learning operations, risk management, or related functions.
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), reporting tools, or dashboard platforms such as Tableau or Power BI.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and communicate data effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and organizational levels.
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and support operational enhancements.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment or supporting compliance-related programs is preferred.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work effectively in fast-paced and evolving environments.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience within financial services, compliance, risk management, or learning governance environments.
  • Familiarity with governance frameworks, audit processes, or Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) activities.
  • Experience supporting enterprise reporting and governance processes.
  • Intermediate proficiency in data visualization and reporting platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Learning & Development, Risk Management, Data Analytics, or related field.
