Job description
The Learning Commons Assistant acts as a primary point of contact for the Pukui Learning Commons, providing essential clerical, technical, and administrative support to maximize the effective use of its expanded resources, collections, and spaces. - Physically check and supervise areas not visible from the main floor, such as the two silent study rooms, to ensure student safety and maintain the integrity of the quiet study environment.
- Enforce all Pukui Learning Commons rules and guidelines, including the policy to keep food off the main floor to protect books and archives, particularly due to direct access from the cafe.
- Use discretion to correct and reward student behavior, assist students with managing behaviors and resolving conflicts, and communicate escalated behavioral issues and concerns to the appropriate faculty.
- Act as the welcoming and professional front face of the Learning Commons, directing visitors and managing students as they arrive for class.
- Assist with daily library coverage, including shelving books and covering the checkout desk as needed.
- Be responsible for covering after-hours supervision, as Pukui will need to remain open after normal school hours.
