As a member of the Plant Leadership team, you are responsible for improving existing technologies for producing chocolate and/or cocoa products for the Barry Callebaut group.
The Process Technology Manager has end to end site accountability for all process performance and process capability topics within the plant. Within this role, you will support manufacturing operations teams with building and maintaining process and people capabilities, implement projects and collaborate with the Innovation group.
This role also supports evaluating, recommending and leading the implementation of new process development technologies that optimize performance, are cost effective, and will improve product quality and manufacturing techniques.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Establish and maintain global operational process standards, drive roll out for Process Operating Standards (SOP's, Process routines, etc.) and Process capability monitoring across existing installations
  • Provide technical support for day-to-day operations
  • Contribute together with local management team establish standardized use of technology on the shop floor with the drive to manage change and capability building to ensure adoption
  • Provide support to Technical and engineering teams when commissioning new equipment or performance related enhancements of existing technologies
  • Oversee and optimize the manufacturing processes and technologies to ensure efficient and high-quality production.
  • Use SPC to establish process stability in each manufacturing process and/or line
  • "Streamline production processes, maintaining product quality, and ensuring the efficient operation of each process.
  • Manage the NPI (New Product) & PTF (Product Transfers) Process and Innovative Projects in collaboration with R&D
  • Identify challenging products and/or product families based on desired finished product specifications vs actual results to improve process capabilities
  • Map and classify actual processes identifying opportunities for process improvement like recipes and process steps, energy savings, and quality risk avoidance, among others.
  • Implement solutions that can be integrated into our manufacturing processes to boost performance, reduce waste and increase OEE
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of automation systems, such as robotics, AI, and IoT, to enhance productivity and reduce manual intervention.
  • Integrate and use data analytics into production processes on the site to drive process improvements
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of automated systems within the manufacturing facility, ensuring smooth integration and operation of robotics, AI, and IoT technologies.
  • Identify trends, and provide insights to optimize manufacturing processes, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that our technological align with quality standards and regulatory requirements as well identifying additional/new technology to improve our processes where applicable
  • Manage the data entry and accuracy in SAP for our formulations
  • Support SKU reduction/rationalization efforts
  • Lead and direct the Process Engineers and/or Packaging Engineer/s to improve our process capabilities and manage Improvement opportunities
  • Identify opportunities & implement solutions/improvements to reduce waste and re-work

About you:
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in process engineering, food science, chemical engineering, electromechanics, bioscience-engineering, chemistry or physics.
  • Minimum 5+ years experience in manufacturing in Process Management, Operations Management or related field
  • Knowledgeable in MS Office Suite, SAP Systems and other applications used in manufacturing e.g. scheduling, CMMS, MES, etc.
  • Technical competences to interact with operation leaders and internal engineering & innovation department
  • Strong analytical skills and work in a solution driven manner
  • Understand and are able to build capabilities of technological processes
  • Able to scale a process from lab or pilot to industrial production, providing input towards the engineering team as well as describing operational guidelines.
  • Can leverage manufacturing big data in a smartway to gain additional process and business insight and make better decisions.
  • Acts as a servant Leader
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills both upward and downward
  • Works well under pressure, enabling his/her team to thrive under all circumstances
