Job Title: Graduate Assistant (GA) - Remote

Department: eLearning

Reports to: Associate Dean of eLearning

Position Type: Eighth Time – 5 hours per week

Duration:  Academic Year 2026-2027

Job Summary 

The Graduate Assistant (GA) supports faculty and staff in the eLearning Department with a variety of tasks related to research, teaching, and administrative duties. This role provides graduate students with valuable professional experience while they pursue their advanced studies. The GA collaborates closely with faculty and staff to help achieve departmental objectives, encourages academic involvement, and contributes to the success of departmental initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Instructor Support:Provide support to instructors by triaging questions andassistingwith Canvas course setup and ongoing course management. Responsibilities include organizing course content, uploading materials, creating assignments and discussions, and offering basic troubleshooting to ensure courses are set up effectively.
  • Administrative Tasks: Help organize departmental events, workshops, and conferences. Provide general administrative assistance, including responding to emails, scheduling meetings, maintaining records, and updating databases. 
  • Research/Data Support: Assist with data collection specific to each department 
  • Other Duties:Complete additional tasks asassigned by the department, faculty, or supervisor that support professional development and academic goals. 
  • Peak Times:Works during high impact periods, which include, but are not limited to: annual forum, graduation, orientations, week prior to the start of the semester, first two weeks of the semester, last two weeks of the semester prior to finals, and advising periods.  

Qualifications 

  • Enrollment/accepted in a Lackawanna College graduate program in Higher Education, Organizational Leadership & Management, Professional Studies, or MBA  
  • Strong academic standing. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Outlook,Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as well as experience with Canva, Canvas LMS, and OneDrive.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
