Job description


Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve training programs that support manufacturing operations and business goals
  • Assess learning needs and translate them into structured training solutions, including curriculum, learning paths, and training materials
  • Develop and standardize training content, processes, and frameworks to ensure consistency and scalability across teams and locations
  • Analyze training data, learner feedback, and performance trends to identify gaps and drive measurable improvements
  • Partner with business leaders and key stakeholders to align training initiatives with organizational priorities
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts to capture technical knowledge and convert it into effective learning experiences
  • Design and implement training for new products to support timely and effective workforce readiness
  • Deliver Train-the-Trainer sessions and support development of training team members
  • Review and approve training documentation, labs, and On-the-Job Training (OJT) materials; support development of team capability in OJT creation
  • Assess trainer performance through audits and evaluations; document findings and provide coaching to close gaps
  • Develop and maintain training documentation, processes, and standards to improve consistency and efficiency
  • Create and analyze surveys and reporting to evaluate training effectiveness
  • Manage LMS-related activities, including enrollments, reporting, and communication of training requirements and updates
  • Support hourly and salaried training programs as needed
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including local schools and state agencies
  • Travel between facilities to support training needs and stakeholder engagement
  • Cross-train across training functions to support a well-rounded and adaptable training program

Qualifications
  • Experience in Learning & Development, training program design, or a related field within a manufacturing or technical environment
  • Strong ability to design, organize, and improve training programs that support operational and business goals
  • Proven experience assessing learning needs and developing structured training solutions
  • Solid understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning concepts, and blended learning approaches
  • Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), survey tools, and content development platforms
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive improvements
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly across all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, guide, and support others without direct authority
  • Experience working with Subject Matter Experts and cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kanban, or similar)

Physical Requirements & Work Environment
The Training Specialist role at Vertiv operates across both office and manufacturing environments. This position includes a mix of standing, walking, and sitting throughout the day while supporting training delivery and program implementation.
This role may require:
  • Frequent movement between offices, training rooms, and manufacturing areas
  • Standing for extended periods during training sessions
  • Occasional lifting of materials or equipment (up to 25 lbs)
  • Use of standard office and training technology
  • Wearing required PPE, including safety glasses and steel-toe shoes, in operational environments
