Job description

Principal Associate, Learning & Development - Auto Sales (Hybrid)
Capital One is seeking a Principal Associate of Learning and Development to drive the execution and tactical delivery of our Financial Services/Auto Sales learning strategy. This role will be responsible for creating, designing, and facilitating a high-impact learning ecosystem that elevates performance for more than 700 sales professionals. Our organization serves as the face of Capital One Auto Finance, supporting approximately 18,000 dealerships across the country. We are looking for a tech-savvy instructional designer and facilitator to modernize our current programs into an industry-leading system that accelerates time-to-proficiency and keeps pace with a high-tech, high-growth environment.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation, Vision & Transformation
  • Design and produce foundational instructional materials from scratch, tailored specifically for Outside Sales (field-based dealer support) and Inside Sales (phone-based support teams).
  • Synthesize complex, multi-step, or technical processes, breaking them down into highly consumable, bite-sized micro-learning modules.
  • Integrate AI-powered productivity and content generation tools into the daily workflow to accelerate asset creation.
  • Utilize modern delivery methods like gamification, microlearning, and advanced multimedia tools to elevate the overall user experience.

Delivery, Facilitation & Program Design
  • Deliver confident and highly engaging facilitation, leading and managing diverse audiences in both live virtual (Zoom/Teams) and in-person environments.
  • Build structured curriculum rooted in instructional design models and adult learning principles to drive clear behavioral change.
  • Develop continuous learning paths to drive continuous improvement in our sales teams.
  • Manage and deploy learning content within the Learning Management System (LMS) and create interactive modules using advanced authoring tools.

Operational Adaptability & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Quickly learn complex, unfamiliar products, financial services, or business landscapes and translate them into simple, effective training programs.
  • Partner with L&D leadership and sales subject matter experts to align learning solutions with complex sales objectives, cycles, and methodologies.
  • Rapidly evaluate and adjust training material to ensure alignment with continuously evolving product-lines.

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
  • At least 3 years of experience designing and producing instructional materials from scratch (for example: digital learning, quick-reference resources, video content, facilitator guides).
  • At least 2 years of experience facilitating training in virtual and in-person environments.
  • At least 1 year of experience utilizing and integrating Artificial Intelligence applications throughout the learning design, development, and delivery process.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree
  • 1+ year of experience utilizing the Google Suite of business applications.
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design and delivery.
  • 2+ years of experience working within, training, or supporting a sales organization.
  • 1+ years of experience with auto sales or financial services.
  • 2+ years of experience managing content within a Learning Management System (LMS) or creating interactive learning modules using Articulate Rise or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience integrating AI tools into instructional design workflows and into learning experiences.
