Position Overview

SPA is seeking a Learning Specialist to join our Learning and Development team. This role is ideal for someone who has strong instructional design, facilitation, and technical skills. The Learning Specialist will design and deliver engaging training experiences, both virtual and in-person, while also supporting the administration of SPA's learning management system via SuccessFactors.

The ideal candidate is creative, detail-oriented, and comfortable working directly with employees and subject matter experts to turn ideas into high-impact learning solutions.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Design & Content Development
    • Design and develop interactive training content (eLearning, instructor-led, blended) using Articulate 360, Camtasia, and Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Apply instructional design best practices to create engaging, effective, and accessible materials.
    • Update and maintain existing courses to ensure accuracy, compliance, and relevance.
  • Facilitation & Delivery
    • Deliver instructor-led and virtual training sessions with confidence and energy.
    • Use adult learning principles to foster participation, engagement, and knowledge retention.
    • Support logistics for training sessions, including scheduling, materials, and participant communications.
  • LMS Support & Administration
    • Assist with course uploads, user support, and reporting within the LMS.
    • Track completions and provide basic data analysis to measure training effectiveness.
    • Help troubleshoot learner issues and escalate as needed.
  • Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
    • Partner with subject matter experts to translate technical content into learner-friendly training.
    • Gather learner feedback and adjust content and facilitation methods as needed.
    • Stay current on learning technologies and recommend fresh approaches.
Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, HR, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design, eLearning development, or training facilitation.
  • Proficiency with Articulate 360, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills with experience leading training sessions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Experience administering an LMS (SuccessFactors preferred).
  • Familiarity with SCORM or other eLearning standards.
  • Exposure to leadership or career development training.
  • Prior experience in a defense or technology organization.
  • Instructional design or training certifications (e.g., ATD, CPTD, Kirkpatrick).
