Job description

The Leadership Development Advisor will serve as a strategic partner to operations and clinical leadership across the Inova Health system, designing, delivering, and evaluating high-impact learning and development interventions. Central to this role is the ability to influence and drive strategy with hospital site administrative councils and develop and facilitate dynamic, high trust learning experiences aligned with Inova's Leadership Competency framework that resonate with all leadership tiers of the organization, including senior and executive audiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with system, care site leadership, and HR Associate Vice Presidents to develop a Leadership Development Strategy to support business priorities. 
  • Lead needs assessment discussions with site leadership about leadership development needs and translate them into a targeted cohesive plan of learning solutions.
  • Drive needed strategic shifts in the leadership development strategy, based on discussion and data presented in the Quarterly Business Reviews.
  • Manage key components of Inova's leadership development portfolio, overseeing the design delivery, and continuous improvement of select programs within Inova's enterprise learning strategy.
  • Apply advanced facilitation skills to deliver content for in-person and virtual audiences, employing audience engagement techniques and modern technology tools.
  • Assess the impact of learning initiatives and events. Utilize best practices in adult learning assessment, combined with survey and data analysis through collaboration with the data analytic team partners. 
  • Translate learning analytics into actionable insights, communicating progress and impact through data-driven storytelling in quarterly business reviews.
  • Oversee strategic partnerships with external learning vendors and facilitators ensuring program design, deliver, and outcomes align with Inova's leadership strategy, brand, and quality standards.
  • Provide internal consulting to leaders and HR partners to support the cascade and local adoption of enterprise learning initiatives across sites and teams.
  • Use backward design methodology to translate performance objectives into targeted learning experiences, customizing instructor-led programs and supporting materials that drive measurable skill application. 
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify behavioral skill gaps to inform leadership development training requirements that drive behavioral change and engage learners.
  • Design program supplemental materials such as job aids, micro-learning, guides, after-program summaries, and other learning support resources.
  • Collaborate with instructional and graphic design partners to evolve and maintain digital and instructor-led learning assets. 
  • Build awareness of development offerings to team members by continuously improving Inova's Leadership Development intranet site and partnering with the Internal Communications team to design communication plans for new and existing learning opportunities.
  • Manage essential learning management (LMS) and logistical processes that support delivery of leadership development programs, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and a positive participant experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience - 7 years of experience delivering various training and adult learning modules to large audiences, project management experience, and progressive experience in learning and organization development or human resources.

Education - Bachelor's degree in HR, Talent and Organization Development, Education, Psychology, or related field
