Description

Essential functions include the proper and safe handling of all donations through retail pick-ups and rural order deliveries, maintaining vehicles properly, and reducing waste. Provides the highest customer service to all persons associated with the Freestore Foodbank, including donors, member agencies, and volunteers through the implementation of Lean Management principles and philosophies that support the goal of hunger relief.

• Provide transportation, unloading, and proper documentation of all products being transported in compliance with Feeding America, local, state, and federal policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and reporting. Executes continuous improvement of processes through systematic problem solving. Works both independently and in cooperation with other Team Members, Team Leaders, Group Leaders, and Vice President of the Freestore Foodbank

• Executes the receipt of donations from donors through proper handling of the product and proper documentation for receiving. Assures safe delivery of orders to member agencies and proper documentation for billing purposes

• Adheres to Feeding America, USDA, OASHF and manufacturer quality control standards, and any product not meeting these standards is disposed of and appropriately accounted for. Reduces waste and reports concerns regarding pick-ups or extended waiting periods to the Logistics Team Leader

• Operates Freestore Foodbank vehicles in accordance with DOT regulations. Stays current on all DOT policies and regulations. Assists the Logistics Team Leader with DOT regulations and compliance issues.

• Responsible for daily vehicle inspection in order to identify any maintenance issues for the assigned vehicle. Performs routine maintenance, safety checks, and reports problems. Ensures assigned vehicle cleanliness is maintained. Maintains inspection report in vehicle with copies to necessary parties. Follows all State and Federal Regulations.

Qualifications

Agency preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and two years of DOT class A truck route experience. Have a valid Class A DOT driver's license with Air Brake endorsement. Have a valid knowledge of the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky metro areas. Able to read and understand street maps and follow directions. Excellent verbal and customer service skills and basic computational skills (add, multiply, divide). Working knowledge of distribution center or warehouse operations. Experience operating a forklift, power and hand jacks, pallet wrapper, and lift-gate. Ability to accomplish tasks and goals within timeframes. Ability to work long and flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Understand or desire to learn the use of lean management principles and philosophies driving continuous improvement of business processes in alignment with organizational goals.

Physical requirements/mental processes include driving, map reading, walking, standing, typing, talking, sitting, bending, filing, hearing, writing, analyzing, identifying, analytical reasoning, remembering, understanding, interpreting, and problem solving. Must regularly lift and move between 50 and 100 pounds.

Work environment includes warehouse/office environment. Working and driving vehicle in diverse communities and increment weather and road conditions. Exposed to working near moving vehicle in/outside the warehouse. Occasional exposure to cold, wet and/or humid conditions, fumes and airborne particles.
