Job Description
This is a part-time, temporary/seasonal position that is remote.
Western Nevada College is seeking a motivated and creative Green Business Program Intern to support the Nevada Green Business Network. This intern will work directly with the Green Business Program Coordinator to help expand and promote NVGBN's free, statewide certification program.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in sustainability, marketing, communications, or business to gain hands-on experience in program outreach, digital content creation, and applied environmental initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Outreach Support
  • Assist in promoting the Green Business certification program to businesses across Nevada
  • Support email campaigns, partner outreach, and general program visibility efforts
  • Help identify and research potential businesses and sectors for outreach

Social Media & Content Creation
  • Create and schedule social media content (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc.)
  • Develop graphics, short-form content, and promotional materials
  • Assist with storytelling efforts highlighting certified businesses and program impact

Graphic Design & Branding
  • Design flyers, digital assets, and light branding materials
  • Ensure consistency with program and college branding guidelines

Blog & Written Content
  • Write and edit blog posts, business spotlights, and sustainability tips
  • Assist with website content updates and general copywriting

Resource Library Development
  • Help build and organize a curated library of sustainability resources for businesses
  • Research tools, incentives, and best practices related to energy efficiency, waste reduction, and green operations

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Enrolled at Western Nevada College (or UNR) and degree-seeking

Preferred:
  • Interest in sustainability, environmental studies, or green business practices
  • Experience with Canva or other graphic design tools
  • Basic knowledge of marketing, communications, or outreach strategies
  • Experience writing blogs or digital content
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and basic content creation
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
