Job description

Famous Supply is growing and has an exciting opportunity for you to join our Purchasing Team! The Buyer purchases products from suppliers and ensures inventory levels are maintained at all our locations. You will negotiate with suppliers to procure high-quality products, delivered on-time, at the lowest total cost. To thrive in this role, you need to have a positive attitude, strong communication skills and the ability to efficiently manage your time. You will work directly with your peers on our Purchasing Team, branch managers, sales team, and our supplier partners.
This position is based at our corporate office in Akron, OH, with a flexible hybrid schedule of 4 days in the office and 1 day remote each week. We offer competitive compensation and a collaborative, team-oriented culture!
Primary Job Responsibilities:
• Review requisitions and release purchase orders in a timely manner to meet customer requirements.
• Maintain sufficient levels of inventory at our branches and distribution centers to meet customer demand while achieving company inventory turnover objectives.
• Establish and maintain purchasing data such as price, landed cost, lead-time, order quantity, and product description.
• Assists with product line and SKU inventory strategy (stock vs. non-stock status).
• Expedites delivery of products and maintains credible delivery information for purchase orders. Drives suppliers for excellent delivery performance.
• Negotiate costs with suppliers.
• Evaluates potential suppliers and recommends sources of supply based on alignment with company expectations.
• Stay up to date on industry and product knowledge and market trends
• Measure and monitor purchasing and inventory metrics and strive for high performance.
Required Experience:
• 3 Years purchasing experience
• Microsoft Office 365 products, including Excel
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Thorough with keen attention to detail
Preferred Experience:
• Distribution industry experience and requisite product knowledge
• Experience using Epicor's Eclipse ERP system and/ or using Gains SCP
• International freight and import compliance knowledge
