Work EnvironmentFocus on leadership programs, training sessions, and strategic planningAssist with recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and HR administration
Employer & Industry UsageUsed in corporate training departments, consulting firms, and large organizationsCommon across various industries for HR departments in companies and organizations

While both roles involve supporting organizational functions, a Leadership Development Intern primarily focuses on leadership training and strategic initiatives, whereas a Human Resources Intern handles recruitment, employee engagement, and HR processes. The roles often overlap in organizational settings but serve distinct functions within a company's talent development and HR operations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a leadership development intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Leadership Development Intern, you need a solid understanding of organizational behavior, strong analytical abilities, and progress toward a relevant degree such as Human Resources, Business, or Psychology. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Office Suite, HR information systems, and learning management platforms is often required. Exceptional interpersonal communication, initiative, and adaptability help interns build relationships and contribute meaningfully to team projects. These skills and qualities are crucial for developing future leadership potential and supporting organizational growth initiatives.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect as a leadership development intern?

As a Leadership Development Intern, you can expect to work on a variety of projects that support talent management, employee engagement, and leadership training initiatives. You may assist with organizing leadership workshops, developing training materials, conducting research on best practices, or analyzing feedback from program participants. Interns often collaborate closely with HR professionals, learning and development teams, and occasionally senior leaders, providing valuable exposure to organizational strategy and people development. This role offers an excellent opportunity to build project management and interpersonal skills while gaining insight into how large organizations cultivate future leaders.

What is a leadership development intern?

A Leadership Development Intern is a student or recent graduate who participates in a structured internship program designed to build leadership skills and business acumen. These interns typically work on projects that involve team collaboration, problem-solving, and exposure to different aspects of an organization’s operations. The goal is to prepare interns for future leadership roles by providing mentorship, training, and hands-on experience. Such programs often include workshops, networking events, and opportunities to interact with senior leaders. This role is common in large corporations and organizations that invest in developing future managers.

Job description

About the role and team

We are looking for a Sales Development Representative Intern to support us building a strong seller lead pipeline for Catawiki's Collectables business unit. The sales intern will identify, contact and convince sellers to offer quality objects via our platform with a specific focus on Collectables (Books, Coins, Toys, Trading Cards, etc.), and provide prospects with a great onboarding experience. You are going to help us generate sustainable revenue opportunities by opening up conversations with new sellers that the Business Development team will work on to turn them into committed and fast-growing sellers. Your focus areas will be international sellers (Central & Eastern Europe, Nordics) and emerging online sellers across Europe. You will get to learn about the sales function at a marketplace, focused on the early stages of our sellers' journey.

What you'll do
  • Identify, qualify and develop leads through call, email, field visit, fair visit and experts collaboration
    • Identify and reactivate high potential dormants sellers and organic sign-ups
    • Qualify inbound leads by working with data and sales tooling
    • Facilitate a frictionless pre and post-sales experience for new sellers
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with new sellers to expand Collectables seller network
    • In cooperation with experts, quickly learn the important characteristics of categories
  • Select and grow high-potential new sellers and hand them over to the Business Developers
    • Move in sync with Business Developers to develop growth plans for onboarded sellers

  • You are a bachelor/HBO or master student in Business or related studies
  • You are enrolled at an educational institution in the Netherlands for the entire duration of the internship
  • Strong sales mindset
  • Problem solving attitude
  • A passion for the online industry or maybe have a collection yourself so that you are able to understand the language of our sellers
  • Familiar with G Suite tools (Google sheet, slides)
  • Fluent in English
Where you'll be

The role is based in our Dutch office, in the heart of Amsterdam.
