About the Role: 
Sitecore is looking for an External Communications Lead to help shape and amplify the company’s story across external audiences. This role will lead proactive media relations, support product and corporate storytelling, elevate executive visibility, and drive earned media programs that strengthen Sitecore’s reputation and market presence. 
 
The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of the digital experience platform, CMS, marketing platform, or broader MarTech landscape and knows how to translate complex product innovation into clear, compelling narratives. They are a strategic communicator and hands-on operator with strong media instincts, excellent writing skills, and experience working both in-house and at an agency. 
 
What You’ll Do: 
  • Develop and execute external communications strategies that increase awareness of Sitecore, its platform, customer impact, and thought leadership.  
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key journalists, editors, and influencers across business, tech, and MarTech press.  
  • Lead proactive media outreach around company news, product launches, customer stories, data-driven announcements, and executive commentary.  
  • Partner closely with corporate communications, product marketing, customer marketing, field marketing, social media, and senior executives to develop differentiated stories and consistent messaging.  
  • Draft and edit high-quality press releases, messaging frameworks, media pitches, Q&As, executive talking points, bylines, blogs, and briefing materials.  
  • Translate technical and product-heavy topics into concise, relevant, and compelling stories for external audiences.  
  • Drive executive visibility opportunities, including media interviews, speaking engagements, contributed content, and trend commentary.  
  • Manage PR agencies and external partners, including scope, priorities, budget, performance, and results.  
  • Track, analyze, and report on coverage, message pull-through, share of voice, and overall communications impact.  
  • Support reactive communications and issues management when needed.  
 
What You Need to Succeed: 
  • 7+ years of experience in public relations, external communications, or corporate communications.  
  • Experience both in-house and at a PR/communications agency preferred.
  • Experience in digital experience platforms, CMS, marketing platforms, MarTech, enterprise SaaS, or related technology categories preferred.
  • Proven media relations success and strong existing relationships with business, technology, and MarTech press.  
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to create content for media, executives, and thought leadership platforms.  
  • Demonstrated ability to simplify complex technology and product narratives for external audiences.  
  • Experience managing people, with a track record of coaching and developing talent. 
  • Experience leading and optimizing agency relationships.  
  • Strong executive presence and confidence working with senior stakeholders.  
  • Excellent judgment, attention to detail, and ability to balance strategy with execution in a fast-paced environment.  
 
Other Skills That Can Set You Apart:
  • Experience in B2B enterprise software or high-growth technology companies.  
  • Familiarity with categories such as DXP, personalization, CDP, digital asset management, content operations, AI for marketing, or commerce.  
  • Experience supporting major product announcements, customer storytelling, industry events, and executive thought leadership.  
  • Global communications experience across multiple markets.

Compensation details: this role offers a base salary range of $125k to $150k plus a 15% bonus structure.
