What is a Lead RBT?

Lead Registered Behavior Technicians (Lead RBTs) are experienced behavior technicians who provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy, typically to individuals with autism spectrum disorder. They not only deliver direct therapy but also take on additional responsibilities, such as mentoring new RBTs, assisting Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) with program implementation, and overseeing daily client care. Lead RBTs help ensure quality and consistency in therapy sessions and may assist with training, scheduling, and administrative tasks. Their leadership role is crucial for maintaining high standards of client service and supporting the clinical team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Lead Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lead RBT, you need a solid understanding of applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles, experience in implementing behavior intervention plans, and certification as an RBT. Familiarity with data collection software, ABA therapy tools, and compliance with HIPAA guidelines is typically required. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are crucial for mentoring other technicians and collaborating with supervising Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). These skills ensure effective therapy delivery, team cohesion, and positive outcomes for clients receiving behavioral support.

What are some common challenges Lead RBTs face when supervising and mentoring other RBTs, and how can they be addressed?

Lead Registered Behavior Technicians (Lead RBTs) often encounter challenges such as ensuring consistency in behavioral intervention implementation, providing effective feedback, and managing varying skill levels within their team. To address these, it's important to establish clear communication channels, offer regular training sessions, and model best practices during sessions. Collaborating closely with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) and fostering a supportive team environment can also help Lead RBTs successfully mentor and guide less experienced RBTs.

About the Opportunity

Join a growing, clinician-owned and operated ABA therapy organization serving children with autism and developmental differences across the United States.

We are expanding our presence in Norcross, GA, and are seeking an experienced Lead Registered Behavior Technician (Lead RBT) to join our center-based team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an RBT who is ready to take the next step in their career. In addition to providing high-quality, one-on-one ABA therapy, the Lead RBT will serve as a senior resource for the team by supporting fellow RBTs, helping maintain program consistency, and assisting with the onboarding and development of new team members.

Spanish/English bilingual skills are strongly preferred because of the opportunity to support Spanish-speaking families, but bilingual ability is not required.

What You'll Do

  • Provide direct, one-on-one ABA therapy to clients in a center-based environment under BCBA supervision.
  • Implement individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) accurately and consistently.
  • Collect and document accurate session data and communicate client progress or concerns to the supervising BCBA.
  • Serve as a senior resource and role model for fellow RBTs.
  • Support team members with treatment protocols, documentation, and ABA best practices.
  • Help onboard and train new RBTs and promote treatment fidelity across the team.
  • Assist BCBAs with parent and caregiver training sessions.
  • For bilingual team members, assist with communication and program updates for Spanish-speaking families.
  • Help maintain a positive, structured, safe, and supportive environment for clients and staff.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, case reviews, and other clinical activities.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong communication in interactions with clients, families, and coworkers.

What We're Looking For

  • Active RBT certification in good standing with the BACB — required.
  • At least 1 year of experience working as an RBT in a center-based ABA setting.
  • Strong understanding of ABA principles and the ability to implement treatment programs with fidelity.
  • Ability to collect accurate, reliable clinical data.
  • Leadership skills and the confidence to guide and support fellow RBTs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Warm, professional, and family-focused approach.
  • Spanish/English bilingual proficiency strongly preferred, but not required.
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance.
  • Ability to work on-site Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM in Norcross, GA.

What We Offer

  • $50,000–$55,000 annual salary
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Paid holidays
  • Clinical supervision hours
  • Support and development opportunities toward BCBA certification for qualified candidates
  • Career advancement opportunities within a rapidly growing national organization
  • Supportive, collaborative clinical environment

Why Join Us?

This is more than a direct-care RBT position. As a Lead RBT, you'll have the opportunity to use your clinical experience and leadership skills to positively impact clients, support families, and help develop the next generation of RBTs on your team.

If you're an experienced RBT looking for greater responsibility, professional growth, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families, we'd love to hear from you.
