What is a lead patient consultant?

Lead Patient Consultants are professionals who guide and assist patients through healthcare processes, particularly in specialized fields like medical cannabis, clinics, or wellness centers. They serve as the primary point of contact for patients, providing education, support, and information about available treatments or services. Their responsibilities often include consulting with patients to understand their needs, coordinating care with medical staff, ensuring compliance with regulations, and sometimes supervising other consultants. Lead Patient Consultants play a crucial role in ensuring patients receive personalized and effective care throughout their healthcare journey.

How does a lead patient consultant typically collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient care?

As a Lead Patient Consultant, you'll frequently work alongside physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to coordinate patient care and ensure that treatment plans are followed effectively. Your role involves facilitating communication between patients and the care team, advocating for patient needs, and sometimes helping to educate patients about their treatment options. Building strong relationships with both patients and healthcare professionals is crucial, as you'll often serve as a liaison to streamline processes and resolve any issues impacting patient satisfaction. This collaborative environment allows you to contribute directly to improved patient outcomes and overall clinic performance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a lead patient consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Lead Patient Consultant, you need an in-depth understanding of patient care, healthcare regulations, and customer service, often supported by experience or certification in healthcare or medical consulting. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, patient management software, and compliance tools is typically required. Outstanding communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills help you guide patients and support team members effectively. These capabilities are crucial for ensuring positive patient experiences, regulatory compliance, and efficient team performance in healthcare environments.

Job description

Patient Experience & Aesthetic Care Coordinator

Ready to turn your sales experience into a career in healthcare? Derm & Rejuvenation Institute in Santa Monica is looking for a polished, energetic, highly motivated Patient Experience & Aesthetic Care Coordinator to join our physician-led dermatology and aesthetic medicine practice. This role is ideal for someone who has already proven they can build relationships, understand customer needs, follow up consistently, and confidently guide people toward a purchaseโ€”but now wants to apply those skills in a more sophisticated, rewarding healthcare environment.

Sales experience is required: We are specifically looking for someone who already understands how to:

  • Build trust quickly.
  • Ask thoughtful questions and uncover needs.
  • Educate customers and explain value.
  • Follow up with leads and prospective clients.
  • Overcome hesitation without being pushy.
  • Recommend products or services with confidence.
  • Work toward individual and team goals.
  • Convert interest into action.
  • Create repeat customers through exceptional service.

Experience in beauty, skincare, luxury retail, cosmetics, hospitality, wellness, med spa, fitness, membership sales, or other high-touch sales environments is especially valuable. Strong customer service experience is also required. You should genuinely enjoy taking care of people, solving problems, creating a memorable experience, and making every interaction feel personal.

This is such a unique career opportunity because healthcare offers the opportunity to learn, grow, build expertise, and make work feel meaningful. In this role, you are not simply helping someone choose a product. You are helping patients navigate concerns that can genuinely affect their confidence and quality of life. You may guide a patient from their first nervous phone call through consultation, treatment, and follow-up. And over time, you get to see the results of the care you helped coordinate. You become part of the patient's journey, which can be incredibly rewarding.

We will teach you the healthcare side. You do not need to come to us with years of medical experience. What we do require is a proven ability to sell, communicate, serve customers, learn quickly, and work hard. We will provide training in areas such as dermatology and aesthetic medicine, medical-grade skincare, cosmetic procedures and technologies, patient education, treatment planning, patient consultation skills, lead nurturing and follow-up, treatment conversion, patient retention, healthcare ethics and professionalism, and practice operations and patient experience.

The most exciting part of this opportunity is how much there is to learn. Aesthetic medicine and dermatology are constantly evolving. New treatments, technologies, skincare products, techniques, and patient-care strategies are continually being introduced. If you are naturally curious and ambitious, you can build valuable expertise that goes far beyond traditional retail sales. As you develop, you may gain increasing responsibility in areas such as patient consultation, treatment coordination, lead management, patient retention, membership growth, skincare education, practice development, team leadership, and healthcare operations.

We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the practice and become increasingly valuable over time. For the right person, this can be the beginning of a long-term professional career in aesthetic healthcare.

You may be perfect for this role if you are:

  • A proven salesperson. You enjoy goals, closing, follow-up, and helping customers make decisions.
  • Exceptional with people. You know how to make someone feel heard, comfortable, and cared for.
  • Energetic and enthusiastic. You bring positive energy into the workplace.
  • Polished and professional. You understand how to communicate with sophisticated clientele.
  • Hardworking. You don't wait for someone to tell you what to do.
  • Competitive in a healthy way. You enjoy hitting targets and celebrating team wins.
  • Coachable. You want feedback and actively work to improve.
  • Curious. You enjoy learning and want to understand the science behind skincare and aesthetic treatments.
  • Ethical. You understand that the patient's best interest always comes before making a sale.
  • A team player. You want everyone around you to succeed.
  • Ambitious. You are looking for a place where you can build skills and grow professionally.

You may currently be succeeding at Sephora, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, Ulta, luxury skincare or cosmetics brands, med spas, wellness companies, membership-based businesses, high-end hospitality, or other customer-facing sales environments. You've already developed valuable sales and customer-service skills. Now you have the opportunity to take those skills into healthcare.

We are a high-energy, high-performance team. We set goals. We track results. We celebrate wins. We support each other. We believe in continuing education. And we take pride in providing an exceptional patient experience. We want someone who finds that environment exciting. Someone who wants to learn from physicians and experienced healthcare professionals. Someone who wants to become more knowledgeable every year. Someone who wants their responsibilitiesโ€”and their careerโ€”to grow.

If you're ready to move from selling beauty to building a career in aesthetic healthcare, we would love to meet you. To apply send these items to Info@DrKormeili.com:
