About Our Team
The Washington Post is powered by the passion and talent of our people. It takes all of us to reinvent news. Beyond our award-winning News and Opinions teams, we work across many departments, including Brand & Events, Communications, Customer Care, Engineering & Product, Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Marketing & Advertising, Print Operations, and Sales.
Why This Role Matters
The Washington Post's Opinions section is expanding its reach and influence through compelling multimedia storytelling. The Executive Multimedia Producer will define and execute the audio and video strategy for Opinions, ensuring that our journalism resonates with audiences across platforms and engages diverse audiences. By shaping how our ideas are seen and heard, this role will play a critical part in advancing our mission to inform, challenge and inspire readers and listeners through thought-provoking perspectives.
What Motivates You
  • You thrive at the intersection of journalism, storytelling, and multimedia innovation.
  • You're energized by building something new - setting a vision, designing workflows, and seeing ideas come to life in both audio and video.
  • You value collaboration and enjoy leading creative teams to deliver impactful work.
  • You're motivated by the chance to amplify powerful voices and make Opinions content more accessible and engaging to broad audiences.

How You Will Support the Mission
  • Define and lead the audio and video strategy for Opinions, ensuring alignment with The Post's editorial mission and growth objectives.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of multimedia professionals, fostering creativity, accountability, and excellence.
  • Partner closely with opinion editors, writers, and columnists to translate ideas into dynamic multimedia formats.
  • Identify new opportunities for storytelling formats, distribution channels, and audience engagement.
  • Manage production timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver high-quality audio and video content consistently.
  • Ensure multimedia projects are integrated across The Post's digital platforms, optimizing reach and impact.

Skills & Experience You Bring
  • Demonstrated success in multimedia journalism, with significant experience in both audio and video production.
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to shape complex ideas into accessible, compelling stories.
  • Proven leadership and management experience, with the ability to inspire, coach, and guide creative teams.
  • Deep understanding of audience engagement and platform-specific best practices.
  • Track record of developing and executing strategy in a newsroom or media environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
  • Rigorous emphasis on factual accuracy and high editorial standards.

Collaboration makes us stronger. That's why our offices are designed with open layouts, modern technology, and easy access to transportation. With certain exceptions for newsgathering and business travel, we work on-site five days a week.
Compensation and Benefits
Wherever you are in your life or career, The Washington Post offers comprehensive and inclusive benefits for every step of your journey:
  • Competitive medical, dental and vision coverage
  • Company-paid pension and 401(k) match
  • Three weeks of vacation and up to three weeks of paid sick leave
  • Nine paid holidays and two personal days
  • 20 weeks paid parental leave for any new parent
  • Robust mental health resources
  • Backup care and caregiver concierge services
  • Gender affirming services
  • Pet insurance
  • Free Post digital subscription
  • Leadership and career development programs

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.
The salary range for this position is:
$122,500 - $204,100 Annual
The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
