What is a lead inspector risk assessor?
A Lead Inspector Risk Assessor is a certified professional responsible for evaluating buildings for lead-based paint hazards. They conduct inspections, risk assessments, and clearance testing to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Their duties include collecting samples, identifying lead contamination, and providing recommendations for hazard control. These professionals typically work in residential, commercial, and public settings to protect occupants, especially children, from lead exposure. Certification and training are required to perform this role, as outlined by agencies like the EPA or state regulatory bodies.
What are the typical daily responsibilities of a lead inspector risk assessor?

You’ll also interact with property owners, contractors, and regulatory agencies to communicate risks and ensure compliance with safety standards. Team leadership is a key component, as you may supervise junior inspectors and coordinate schedules. In many workplaces, you’ll split your time between fieldwork and office-based tasks such as reviewing data and updating regulatory documentation. This dynamic role provides meaningful opportunities to make a direct impact on the safety and well-being of communities.

Technical proficiency with inspection tools, sampling equipment, and specialized risk assessment software is often required. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and leadership abilities are important soft skills for effectively coordinating assessment teams and reporting findings. These combined skills are crucial for accurately identifying hazards, ensuring regulatory compliance, and protecting public health and safety.

- Experience presenting risk insights, program updates, and recommendations to executive leadership, governance committees, auditors, and regulators.
- Experience using Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms such as Archer, ServiceNow GRC, OneTrust, or similar solutions.
- Experience developing reporting and analysis using Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics tools.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:

- Professional certification such as Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Financial Risk Manager (FRM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or a similar credential.
- Experience supporting regulatory examinations, audit remediation, program transformation, and maturity improvement initiatives.
- Experience connecting RCSA outputs to operational resilience, third-party risk, and technology risk programs.
How you'll work:
- This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
- This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.
